Well, UPS lost my pacakge. (In transit since Nov 20) The package was just a stupid device I bought from woot, but what does that matter. It's a package, and it should be accounted for and delivered. I wonder how many other Christmases will be ruined by UPS. At least the guys at Woot are awesome and gave me my money back.
If the package went out for delivery, and hasn't been signed for, should the driver be held accountable?
That package must have been crazy small. Surprised that UPS doesn't have anything server side that would flag those packages that are out for delivery for 20 days.

Seems reasonable that the driver should be held accountable or at least the fact that a package goes missing should be determined the day that it occurs. When I used to be a paperboy, I was held accountable for every paper I delivered and only had one extra. If I screwed up, the extra papers came out of my mediocre earnings.

Here is the thing about all carriers: For the most part, they do a superb job (to just think of how much mail gets from point a to point b without incident is mind boggling), but when something goes wrong, you are screwed. Their systems just don't know what to do. It is true for all carriers.
I think one of the funniest (not then, but now) UPS stories is the time the label fell off a replacement battery for my Mac laptop and the UPS guy delivered it to the CompUSA about a mile from our home because he saw the Apple logo on the box! That makes sense, right?!
Thankfully our building has a very slick delivery system, and we were able know from the signature that it wasn't signed for by the building staff. They put us through to the local carrier and he recognized the name as the CompUSA guy. Now of course because we were dealing with Apple and Apple was dealing with UPS it took a bit of time to get to this point. And then in a true turn of the bizarre, the guy who had been accepting packages for CompUSA for years suddenly disappears. In the end Apple just sent another battery. It took all my restraint not to go to the CompUSA store and roll some heads.

I'm glad I decided to not work for UPS for the season. I'd hate to deal with a lost package!

[this is good] UPS STINKS. I SHIPPED A PACKAGE IN THE BEGINNING OF DEC 07. IT WAS AN ITEM I SOLD ON EBAY. THE ITEM ARRIVED WITH MINOR DAMAGE. UPS SHOULD HAVE SENT IT DIRECTLY BACK TO ME BUT NO; THEY SENT IT BACK TO THE BUYER AGAIN. AGAIN HE REFUSED THE PACKAGE. I WASN'T INFORMED. THEN UPS SENT THE ITEM TO THE SALVAGE/JUNK YARD. PAYPAL REFUNDED THE BUYERS PAYMENT. I WENT TO UPS AND ASKED THEM TO DO SOMETHING. THEY TOLD ME TO GET AN APPRAISAL OF THE ITEM. I SPENT MY ENTIRE WEEKEND RESEARCHING THE ITEM; OBTAINED AN APPRAISAL; AND IT TURNED OUT THE VALUE OF MY ELGIN WALL CURIO CLOCK APPRAISED FOR $1,000. SUDDENLY, UPS WAS ABLE TO LOCATE MY CLOCK THAT IS NOW BROKEN BEYOND REPAIR. ELGIN IS OUT OF BUSINESS AND THEY ARE FORCING ME TO TAKE THE CLOCK BACK. THE WAY THEY HANDLE THERE PACKAGES AND CUSTOMERS IS DISGUSTING. I WOULDN'T SHIP A FEATHER PILLOW BY WAY OF UPS. UPS STINKS.

[this is good] I am rather disenchanted with the recent service my husband has received from UPS.

For some reason it didn't post my whole message..... hmmm....
I am rather disenchanted with the recent service my husband has received from UPS. He has been the recipient of 2 packages (for which he paid to receive merchandise), both packages were large (24" box and a 4 foot rectangular box) and both of these boxes have been lost. We cannot comprehend how these boxes have disappeared and there is only a small effort made to find people's property. The first box was out for delivery for over a week before anyone noticed that the box was missing, the second box has been at the Indianapolis hub for 8 days and was never sent out for delivery. I do not understand how these cannot be traced - can they not question the last person who scanned the item? Also, why does the system not red-flag items which sit in one spot too long and do not move? Why do we have to be the ones to inquire as to where our package is? Also quite frustrated as the recipient of the package that we have no control over talking to anyone in customer service. What can we do??

I have a
Question about how are they making you take the clock back (Dec. 07. bog) what
are they doing to force you???
I have just
had a very valuable item lost, my original Steering box, Steering column,
which had attached to it found the factory, my Vin tag (car id) for my 1962
Corvette. (an original vin tag
with factory identifying rivets is not available for replacement) the Steering
box and column is. (Valued $1,000.00)
I was
notified two days ago that a check is being mailed today for the value I placed
on the shipped item ($1,000.00) a Vin Tag replacement $350.00.
That item
disappeared on it's route to Los
Angeles (400 miles) the item was 12"x12"x60" and weighted 37 lbs.
UPS explained
to me that if they found the item in the future they would sent it to me and
would want their $1,000.00 insurance money back.
GREAT! now I
can just tare down my car, remove the Steering Column, which I now have $1475.00
invested in, which they UPS feel I can just eat.
Any way if
you get this bog please let me know what pressure they can use to force you. If
any other UPS customers read this and know the answer to this question please
feel free to step in. My 62 Corvette has already sit on my hoist for the month
of Dec. 08 and I'm already in the process of ordering a rebuilt
replacement.
I did place a
business card, attached to the column with UPS clear shipping tape. I have found
out all packages from Calif. are sent to Utah where UPS lost and found at that
time they are opened and inspected. If that is true it's a mess just waiting for
UPS to start all over. How long do they just want us to wait??

[いいですね] I sold a gold watch through UPS and I did not have insurance, It was my first time selling something on ebay, the bidding was for over $1000.00 this was about 2 years ago. I complained to ups and after sending severa forms and all they asked me for, I had to refund the money to the buyer, the thing that bothers me is that they only gave me $100.00 back. My question, do they ever find these lost items? and if they do what happens? Thank you for any answers I can get

If the package misses target ( or source) address it should be returned back bu not thrown away, so it's great that they returned money.
